The Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap

The Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap is a quarterly global swap of stitched postcard love, where people across the world make a postcard-sized piece of art using any materials they like.  The only rules are that it needs to include some kind of stitching, and it needs to fit with that quarter’s swap theme.
Every participant is allocated a swap partner to post their creation to, and then they receive some creative goodness (in the form of another handmade postcard) from someone else somewhere in the world.
It is free to enter (participants just pay for the cost of posting their postcard) – and it is a whole lot of fun!
The theme was "BLOOM".  The first pictures are of the postcard I sent to a girl in America and the last photos are of the postcard I received back from another girl from America...

My postcard came from Donnalee Nichols, you can see more of her work on her blog here

Participants are then asked to post the cards they have received on the groups Flickr page here

Ramsbottom Festival

Quite a lot is happening in my little town.  If you have never visited Ramsbottom it is a lovely little town 5 miles north of Bury (about 15 miles from Manchester) with quaint shops and houses. It boasts numerous restaurants and pubs, lovely gift shops, 2 art galleries, antique shops and even a chocolate shop!

It's the perfect place to come for a little wander round on a sunday.

Ramsbottom are having their own music festival in September, it should be good, here are the details...

You can find out more information, buy tickets and hear music from the bands here

White Owl is a gorgeous shop on Etsy.  They are two sisters from Michigan who make lovely jewellery from vintage lace and beads, many of their materials are rescued from estate sales, flea markets and even their own Grandmother!

Each piece looks really precious and the styling and photography is gorgeous too...

The necklaces are around £20, what a bargain for a one off!

You can read more about the sisters here.

Bus blinds

Love those posters that are popping up all over the place at the moment made from old bus blinds.  They show a list of all the places and streets where the bus stops.  Here is a selection of images showing authentic bus blinds and copies.

You can buy a personalised bus blind (like below) from more than words on notonthehighstreet.com for £190

I had a little go at making a Scarborough themed one...

Pinterest Addiction!

I am seriously addicted to Pinterest.

Pinterest is a site where you can pin your favourite images from the web, so it is like a filing system where you can pin from other members pictures or from anywhere on the web.  You need to request an invite which takes about a week.

You can see my boards here or by clicking on my new pinterest button.

Here is a random snapshot of my pins...
